A HOME FOR CHLOE - The first book in a terrific new middle-grade series is now available from Virginia author K. S. Robeson. The series, Tales from Wind Creek, follows Chloe the cat as she finds a new home with an American Indian family - a family that has the mysterious Cherokee gift of being able to understand animals. In Book One - A HOME FOR CHLOE - we learn all about Chloe, the spirited feline who takes matters into her own hands as she realizes that she is doomed to go to the animal shelter. She embarks on an adventure to find safety in the nearby Big Woods. There she meets the wonderful creatures that make up the Animal Alliance. When she is caught by the animal control officer, her new friends band together to save her from certain death. As the first book concludes, Chloe comes to live with Bia, a part-Cherokee Indian girl, and her family.

CHLOE AND BIA takes off where A HOME FOR CHLOE left off. Just as Chloe is settling in with her new family in the stone house on Wind Creek, the Animal Alliance of the Big Woods faces a serious threat. The Big Woods is up for sale and the city plans to destroy the home of the Animal Alliance in order to build a new City Hall and Library. Bia, Chloe, and their family desperately attempt to stop the development. They convince the Mayor to postpone the construction pending a citywide vote, but the greedy contractor has other plans. Book Two offers readers a full introduction to the Tompkins family – a family that has the mysterious Cherokee gift of being able to understand animals. Like Book One, CHLOE AND BIA is a story of friendship and family, bravery and perseverance, and the sometimes unexpected price of progress. Unlike some other children’s books with Native American themes, this series is set fully in the 21st century. Cherokee history and culture are woven into the story line through Bia and her Cherokee grandmothers who play active roles.

CHLOE, BIA, AND THE LITTLE PEOPLE follows the adventures of Chloe the cat as she finds a new home with an American Indian family – a family that has the mysterious Cherokee gift of being able to understand animals. In Book Three, the story continues. With the remaining animals now safe in Wind Forest, Bia and Chloe travel to the reservation in North Carolina to learn more about the Principal People and the healing ways of the Cherokee from the grandmothers. Their adventures lead them to a mysterious encounter with the mythical Cherokee Little People, and Bia comes to know the truth about what really happened to the Big Woods. Arthur Chatman, the greedy developer, has an encounter of his own with the powerful Little People and must face the consequences of his actions.
